Biography
I'm a climate researcher, meteorologist, and data scientist. I enjoy figuring out what the atmosphere will do next and what that means for society, people, and industries.Â
I hold a PhD in Climate Science, an MS in Atmospheric Science, and a BS in Meteorology. I've worked as a meteorology professor, delivered radio on-air forecasts, worked in the energy sector, and advised on climate risk and vulnerability for international development programs. Today I'm Lead Data Scientist at Western Weather Group, where I build machine learning systems for weather station quality control, wildfire risk, and forecast bias correction.
My research explores the predictability and physical drivers of climate variability, with applications to tropical cyclones, hydrology, severe-weather hazards, and climate impact assessment. I've taught undergraduate and graduate courses ranging from aviation meteorology and weather and climate modeling to the science of climate change and data science.
